The Department of Psychology in the College of Arts & Sciences is seeking a full-time Research Associate 1 to support the Hispanic Community Health Study/Study of Latinos (HCHS/SOL) and related ancillary studies. The HCHS/SOL is an epidemiological study in Hispanic/Latino populations designed to describe the prevalence of cardiovascular and pulmonary disease and other select chronic diseases in Hispanic/Latino populations.

This position will be primarily located on the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine campus.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Biology, Health sciences or related field.
  • Bilingual fluency (Spanish/English) to support the research population.
  • No previous work experience necessary.
  • Must have valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Core Job Responsibilities:
  • Contributes to basic and applied research activities by collecting and analyzing data, maintaining databases, etc.
  • Understands and interprets research protocols and procedures.
  • Participates in the publication of significant results.
  • Advances expertise through continued education, training and/or research.
  • Maintains an overview of relevant research findings.
  • Ensures all research is undertaken according to good research practice and guidance.

Department-Specific Responsibilities:
  • Code, verify, and enter health and behavioral data through use of statistical software, Filemaker, and CDART programs.
  • Track existing study participants, conduct phone screenings, manage several health monitoring devices and schedule research visits.
  • Drive the HCHS study van to/from research center for data collection.
  • Maintaining contact and correct address information on all cohort participants.
  • Update tracking information on proxy contacts.
  • Conduct home visits to track lost study participants and to complete research visits.
  • Daily submissions of receipts for van operations, as appropriate.
