The primary role of the Regional Sales Manager is to develop and implement sales plans which meet revenue targets for the assigned region. The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for hiring, training, directing and evaluating Field Sales Engineers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Account coordination between account managers and supporting resources such as Product Managers
  • Assisting account managers with the resolution of conflicts for example direct sales versus channel sales
  • Lead reports in the definition, implementation and execution of account strategies and tactics
  • Setting sales targets for individual account managers
  • Leading regional reviews and prioritizing business opportunities
  • Perform associate performance reviews
  • Championing ABS (growth tools) and arranging/leading within region
  • Coordination and improvement of relevant Altra and customers processes
  • Sales Funnel management, assuring that the funnel targets are met (adequate pipeline) and funnel is adequate to meet assigned sales targets
  • Development of reports as assigned and reporting to management on assigned basis. Includes reporting of goal accomplishment and variance analysis on a quarterly basis.
  • Performs all sales activities (including but not limited to channel management, customer site sales calls, telephone calls, as well as trade, product, and customer seminars).
  • Coordinate, prepare and implement the regional expense budgets.
  • Hire and train new associates. Coach, monitor and appraise individual performance.
  • For assigned key accounts establish and maintain relationships and providing account management as needed.
  • Create and implement a detailed action plan identifying: sales objectives, opportunities, key existing and target customers, and key regional shows to be attended.
  • Collect and report information on all competitive activity, business opportunities, sales trends and results within the assigned market providing input during monthly business review.
  • Monthly reporting in Salesforce.com, Oracle, Cognos, and other sales tracking systems as needed.
  • Participate in regular Growth forums as needed.
  • This position will service the Western Region of the United States. This position is a remote role.

Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required; degree in a technical field such as engineering or computer sciences preferred
  • 7 years' experience in a high-profile sales role preferred

Physical Demand and Work Environment:

Must be willing and able to travel more than 50% of the time and by all forms of transportation.
