We are currently seeking applications to fill the following job opening at Daramic where we develop and manufacture advanced lead-acid battery separators that are driving innovation in transportation and industrial applications with cars, trucks, forklifts, and golf carts as well as ESS.

Job Description:

Essential Functions

  • Entry Level Electrical knowledge: PLC's, electrical schematics, electrical components, and wiring
  • General mechanical knowledge: pumps, motors, thermocouples, welding
  • Ability to build lead acid batteries/ cells from individual components by welding and soldering
  • Load batteries that weigh 50lbs or less into water baths for testing and unloading failed batteries for further processing.
  • Tear Down of Batteries to conduct failure analysis by using horizontal band saw and oscillating saw.
  • Participates in installation and troubleshooting of units or systems: connecting valves, pumps, hydraulic, mechanical or electrical controls, cabling, tubing, power source, and indicating instruments.
  • Follow test guidelines without any deviations
  • Monitor testing equipment for functionality and accuracy
  • Assist engineers on projects as needed
  • Plan/ project testing needs to meet project deadlines
  • Maintain lab safety and cleanliness to prevent lead contamination in lab
  • Ability to keep clear record of test information, data and results in a timely and organized fashion.
  • Adaptability to adjust and pivot among tasks or projects

Mentor and Teacher:
  • Able to guide and mentor the work of less experienced lab technicians

Working Conditions

General Lab environment. Lighting and temperature is adequate. Work is generally performed within a Lab environment, with standard equipment available. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount to force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects including the human body. Proper handling of lead and acid.

Education, Experience, and skills

Education: High school diploma with 3 years experience / Associates Degree

Professional experience: 3 years experience preferred

Communications: Able to interact directly with Daramic plant technical and engineers, outside testing facilities or vendors to assure that samples, supplies, and test results are timely and accurate for the task at hand or to meet project requirements.

Languages: English

Skills: Welding and soldering experience

Troubleshooting skills to the component level

Working knowledge of Microsoft

Experience with standard electrical hand tools

ability to work well in a team environment

Mechanical aptitude

Good organizational skills

Adaptability to meet daily objectives.
