The Quality Inspector determines methods, operations, sequences, and set-ups to perform inspections to ensure conformance to standards and/or special requirements.

Your Role

The Quality Inspector determines methods, operations, sequences, and set-ups to perform inspections to ensure conformance to standards and/or special requirements.

Your Responsibilities

  • Qualify for, obtain, and perform FAA ODA duties as a member of the Pratt & Whitney ODA unit within 6 months of hire date.
  • Work from applicable written inspection procedures and drawings.Determine dimensional and inspection criteria before inspections are performed.
  • Work with other pertinent instructions to plan and perform dimensional and visual inspection on parts, tools, gauges and other equipment.
  • Accept or refer material for rework or quality review based on findings.
  • Perform necessary mathematical computations to determine if products are within tolerances.
  • Follow proper procedures to perform in-line checks and verifications of dimensions.
  • Use a variety of fixed and variable measuring instruments including calibrated measuring devices, such as calipers, micrometers, and etc.
  • Recognize any need for, and report for repair or replacement of, equipment used in performing the work as necessary.
  • Perform routine servicing throughout assigned area following specified procedures and written instructions such as inspector's checklist for upkeep and assure equipment operates properly.
  • Assist others who are responsible for specialized inspection processes such as those found in statistical process control or other similar quality assurance programs.
  • Review documents when applicable to determine acceptance or non-acceptance.
  • Report Quality findings or problems to Quality Manager and follows up to ensure corrective action has/will take place.
  • Maintains record of inspections and prepares list of defects, interacts with other department to ensure compliance with specification and to facilitate the acceptance of parts.
  • May be assigned to carry out tasks, not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department objectives and to develop individuals' skills.
  • Participate in team development including Quality and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Your Skills and Experiences

Educational Requirements
* Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
* Understands basic concepts of Kaizan, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, orequivalents - any certification a plus

Skills and Experience
*Ability to interpret blueprints and understand Geometric Dimension and Tolerance.
*Adequate knowledge of SAP and Microsoft office.
*Read and comprehend written documents such as work instructions, job aids, forms, and apply these to respective logistics area.
*Familiarity with ISO 9001 Standards.
*Understands basic concepts of Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or equivalent.
*Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
*Ability to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous tasks.
*A minimum 3 -5years of previous experience in quality inspection or as an aerospace maintenance technician.
*Any certification is a plus.
*Position must be filled by US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
