Gibbs & Cox is developing, testing and fielding autonomous ships for the National Security and commercial customers. We are currently expanding our team to meet the unique challenges of unmanned surface vessel operations and sustainment for national defense and for the digital transformation of maritime trade. This crucial position will help mature the capabilities of current, in-water prototypes for fielded production at scale. We seek a self-starting, team-oriented business professional to help protect our nation and advance the future prosperity of our interconnected global economy.

In this role, you will collaborate with functional management leads, program office and client stakeholders to plan and manage complex engineering programs related to the design, development and delivery of prototype and full-scale production unmanned surface vessels. You will work with technical leads to maintain and report performance measurement baselines for cost, scope and schedule and to execute and monitor diverse management plans in support of program and business objectives.

General Duties

  • Your top job is to collect program performance data, perform analysis, and report meaningful information to the Program Manager as to the state of program execution for complex, software intensive system-of-systems (SISoS) engineering programs
  • You will interface with all functions of the program and business, to extract, interpret and submit program data for program performance management
  • You will help monitor actual costs expended against planned budgets and maintain predictive measures of financial performance (e.g., estimate to complete, variance at completion, etc.)
  • You will help maintain program issue, risk and opportunity registers and facilitate root cause analysis, lessons learned workshops and team retrospectives
  • You will schedule and participate in Program Management Office (PMO) meetings, create and track Program action items, create and submit schedule analysis and reports, other project management objectives as needed
  • You will create a program Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), track and update this schedule and provide analysis of the schedule, including Program/Project critical path, delinquencies, and due dates.
  • Support the Program Manager by initiating actions to ensure timely preparation and submission of program documentation by technical teams, providing detailed review to ensure consistency and quality of program documentation
  • Support a culture of teamwork, enthusiasm, and customer success within the program


Minimum Skill Requirements

  • Active US Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance
  • Familiarity with industry best practices for program and project management
  • Direct experience creating and reporting integrated master schedule progress and critical path using MS Project, Primavera, or other scheduling tool.
  • Experience using PMIS or productivity tools to plan, track and monitor project work, project team member tasks and actual vs. planned costs
  • Excellent communication skills and customer service orientation
  • Strong organizational skills and mastery of details


Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience maintaining a resource loaded, multi-project Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) to plan and mange detailed schedule networks from design, assembly, and test to operations and sustainment-validating scope, workflow and resources needed to execute the program
  • Familiarity with engineering system development life cycle (SDLC) and process documentation
  • Familiarity with development firm, fixed price programs for end-item deliverables
  • Familiarity with Navy or Commercial ship detailed design and construction project lifecycles
  • Experience with SharePoint libraries and entry-level SharePoint administration
  • Fluency with MS Office products, especially Excel including use of pivots, vlookups and sumifs
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related discipline; or four years' relevant experience; or two years' relevant experience and a Certified Associate Project Manager (CAPM) certification from PMI


Applicant will be subject to a security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain a security clearance issued by the US Government. In addition to the security clearance, this position may require an additional background screening for base access.
