Job Summary:

Lead multilayer, globally dispersed Product Data & Technical Content teams in governing the business' product technical data to the end goal of creating and implementing an enterprise-wide data strategy that supports sales and ecommerce goals.

Location:

Candidate ideally located or willing to relocate, or commute to Chicago, IL; Phoenix, AZ; or Leeds, United Kingdom. See additional job posting locations.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Manage multilayer, globally dispersed Product Data teams ensuring that staff are engaged, performing to SLA expectations, and developing in their roles.
  • Develop a global data governance strategy for the business' product technical data including product taxonomy, attribute creation & definition, product titles, and other technical assets.
  • Manage the Product Data Management tools and systems including their maintenance and development, for the creation, storage, cleaning and retrieval of product technical data. Collaborate with external providers and vendors.
  • Take decisions in data strategy that simplifies, standardizes, and enables sharing and automation to the end-goal of minimizing total effort to maintain product technical data.
  • Collaborate with Product Data Production teams to establish quality and audit practices that ensures output meets standards set out by global data governance strategy.
  • Research and resolve internal/external customer inquiries concerning errors or incompleteness in product technical data.
  • Lead or participate as a subject matter expert in key business programs involving product technical data and systems. Partner with GIS/IT, ECommerce, Search & SEO, Product Management teams.

Job Level Specifications:
  • Manages direct managers and/or highly skilled specialists who exercise significant latitude and independence. Oversees multiple departments and related teams. Ability to work across geographical & cultural boundaries.
  • International/local travel required to meet with direct reports/teams. Estimated nonconsecutive 4-6 weeks per year.
  • Establishes operating policies and procedures that affect departments and direct teams. Interprets enterprise-wide policies and procedures. Develops budgets, schedules and performance standards for one or more departments. Responsible for resources and policy formation in area of responsibility.
  • Experience in product data management and governance including the management of product data architecture, processes, lifecycles, systems and tools.
  • Assignments are defined in the form of long-term objectives. Decisions are guided by resource availability, functional objectives and independent judgment.
  • Collaborates frequently with internal management. Leads meetings and briefings for internal and external representatives and vendors.
  • Decisions likely have extended impact on the outcomes of multiple departments or teams. Poor decisions or recommendations will likely result in delays and/or modifications to projects and/or operations; causing additional expenditure of time, people and/or financial resources.

Work Experience:
  • Typically 8+ years including 3+ years of management experience

Education and Certification(s):
  • Bachelors degrees or equivalent experience from which comparable knowledge and job skills can be obtained in any of the following disciplines:
  • Electronic Engineering, Electronics, Product Information Management, Master Data Management, Quality Assurance, Quality Management, Data Architecture, Business Intelligence, Information Science

Distinguishing Characteristics:
  • Experience with PIM, MDM and DAM tools such as Informatica MDM, Product 360, IDQ, Step Stibo, IBM Initiate, SAP MDG, Pimcore.
