Role Description:

The Payroll Accounting Assistant is a supportive team member responsible for plant payroll, various accounting assignments and other administrative duties as needed. The position is responsible for adhering to company policies, accounting procedures, and financial controls including SarbanesOxley (SOX) compliance. The position is engaged in daily plant activities and offers insights towards continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Daily and weekly processing for plant hourly workforce payroll for oncycle and off-cycle payments

• Process vacation and holiday pay according to plant policy

• Execute accounting principles in compliance with SOX and operational controls to ensure payment accuracy, audit for completion, and approval through the delegations of authority

• Partner closely with shared service central Payroll team and site Human Resource division to account for impacts or adjustments to payroll processing, such as: garnishments, disability, time and attendance, etc.

• Respond to payroll inquiries including payment research and reconciliation

• Assist in the month-end closing activities ensuring accurate reporting of financial statements

• Assist Plant Finance Manager in various costing/plant performance reports

• Complete daily/weekly/monthly accounting duties such as production and spoilage reporting, shipping reports reviews, raw material inventories, etc.

• Assist Plant Finance Manager in required SOX reports and review controls, and maintain supporting documentation

• Support of internal and external audit programs, including inquiries and providing support documentation

• Assist Plant Finance Manager in Finished Good inventories ensuring compliance with policies and procedures

• Maintain invoices, receipts, and payment notifications to support Plant Finance Manager in reconciliation for general ledger accounts

• Perform various administrative duties as needed

• Comply with Environmental and Food Safety standards as set forth in plant policies/programs

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalency required; Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting or related field strongly preferred

• Prior experience in payroll processing, accounts payable, audit, and/or financial reporting

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills in a team-based environment

• Exceptional problem solving, analytical and technical skills

• Demonstrates independent motivation with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

• Excellent time management skills with the ability to handle multiple, competing priorities to complete tasks/projects within stated deadlines

• Ability to function well in a fast-paced environment • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with sensitive information

• Experience with payroll, accounting and time reporting systems such as SAP, Oracle, ADP, Kronos, Ceridian, Quickbooks, etc.

• Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office suite with strong aptitude and emphasis in the use of Excel
