Responsibilities

Wellstar has an immediate opening for a Paramedic in the Emergency Department at Atlanta Medical Center, a Level 1 Trauma Center. The position is a PRN Nights opportunity the hours are 7p-7a.

The Paramedic is position provides emergency care at the scene of an accident or other emergency. Responsibilities involve preparation for response, response, delivery of care, transportation, documentation, and post response duties. Also attends to patients being transported by ambulance on non-emergency calls and is responsible for the patient's safety in route. Responsible for performing an initial assessment of the scene and patient including obtaining a brief targeted history and completing a physical exam. Recognizes and evaluates patients who require immediate attention and when necessary initiates emergency life saving treatment. Delivers and/or supervises the delivery of emergency patient care such as administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation, oxygen and resuscitation with an ambu bag. Intubates when necessary. Inserts IVs and administers medication according to physician order or ACLS protocol. Also may participate in life safety programs, community awareness programs, and other programs as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Minimum Education

  • High school graduate or equivalent required. Successful completion of paramedic program.
Required Minimum Certification
  • Must have a current BLS card from the American Heart Association on the first day of employment in position.
    Must receive a current ACLS card from the American Heart Association within the first six months of employment in position.
    Must receive a current PALS card from the American Academy of Pediatrics within the first six months of employment in position.
Required Minimum Experience
  • Completion of accredited paramedic program and associated clinical hours.
Required Minimum Skills
  • Critical Thinking, Customer Service, Assessment Skills, Writing, Judgement and Decision Making, Active Learning, Complex Problem Solving, Speaking Clearly, Time Management, Report Writing.
