Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 327-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

Job Role Summary
The Outpatient Pharmacy Technician performs all technical duties within their scope under the law to practice at the highest skill level of licensure. This includes all aspects of prescription order preparation up to the final pharmacist check. Technicians provide all aspects of direct and indirect customer service with patients in person and on the phone. Technicians perform many other duties to provide excellent pharmaceutical and customer service.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
• Performs all aspects of prescription order preparation up to the final pharmacist check and dispensing
• Evaluates and selects proper financial coverage code; reviews and investigates all potential payer sources
• Provides excellent direct and indirect customer service to people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds by following PRIDE standards using the AIDET process
• Understands and consistently utilizes all information systems including but not limited to: Epic, Epic Willow Ambulatory, Epic Inventory, RMS Point of Sale, and automated dispensing cabinets
• Maintains efficient work flow by analyzing and adapting to changes in volume and staffing; uses downtime efficiently
• Works with a sense of urgency to assist patients and encourages a sense of urgency in coworkers
• Consistently meets productivity and service benchmarks associated with position
• Maintains a clean, neat, and professional work area at all times; offers and implements suggestions to improve workflow, efficiency, and service
• Manages conflicts in a calm, constructive, and professional manner; assists others in obtaining positive conflict resolution outcomes
• Performs controlled substances accountability duties in assigned area including, but not limited to: assisting with monthly counts, double/triple counting prescriptions, obtaining proper identification, and obtaining signatures
• Insures a constant state of readiness for inspections by TJC, ISDH, DEA, Board of Pharmacy, and all other regulatory bodies
• Consistently maintains compliance with all hospital and departmental policies and procedures and applicable laws
• Collects funds from patients and follows proper accounting procedures throughout the cash handling process
• Maintains and manages inventory at proper levels including receipt, returns, accurate counts, par levels and reorder points
Job Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Must obtain and maintain an Indiana Pharmacy Technician or Technician in Training license
• Must have demonstrable mathematical knowledge and pass screening math test
• Must complete training program within 122 days
