Our Jersey City branch is in search for an experienced freight forwarding professional to join the OKAM team.

Your Role

The main role of the OKAM Team Lead is to support the operational excellence and continuous improvement of the Industrial vertical.

Your Responsibilities

o Must drive scalable solutions in support of Operational Excellence/ Continuous Improvement for Hi-Tech
o Mentor and guide department of Operational Key Account Managers - support team by providing experienced functional management
o Motivate and retain staff through effective leadership and career pathing.
o Provide strategic leadership and act as senior point of contact for customers.
o Engage with Vertical Leads (RV-K) to provide Operational subject matter expertise and brick walling development opportunities.
o Assist establish processes with operational branches for new business gained through RFQ's and rate requests (implementation assistance).
o Monitoring of internal compliance (Billing, OPS DQ etc)

o Provide training and tools for new hires and/ or continuous education for all assigned team members.
o Execute performance reviews and incentive schemes for direct reports and managing HR related issues.
o Allocate resources to meet business needs.
o Attend regular management meetings and ensure proper action/ follow-up.
o Assist in new account startups and implementation in conjunction or without Implementation Team.
o Maintain customer relationships at senior level.
o Act as senior point of escalation.
o Review account strategies in conjunction with the commercial account owner.
o Develop, define and implement new processes to ensure continuous improvement and operational excellence across customers.

o Staff training and development
o Ensure operational and systemic compliance in line with customer requirements
o Ensure QBR's and reporting are timely, organized and professional
o Ensuring regular customer contact is maintained and regular operational reviews are carried out
o Ensure that account billing schedule internal and external is maintained for both accounts receivable and accounts payable
o Ensure account records are maintained in a current and accurate state
o Ensuring that relevant management information is disseminated amongst staff via regular staff briefings

Your Skills and Experiences

o Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate, manage and support a large team
o Demonstrate initiative and a forward thinking approach to the management of the business and people.
o Excellent organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple individuals.
o Interpersonal skills demonstrated in in and external relationships.
o Ability to work independently and make decisions at a high level.
o The ability to develop creative solutions and to think./ act at a strategic rather than operational level.
o To be able to affect operational and cultural change where/ when necessary.
o Must have in depth knowledge of forwarder logistics import and export operations, including systems and processes related to security protocols.
o Confidential handling of customer communication
o Must be well versed and knowledgeable in the following areas so as to direct and guide activities
- Export/Import regulatory, compliance and transactional functions, including documentation issuance, documentation review, cargo expediting functions, and communication of forwarding related details.
o Must have experience in dealing with multi-national and multi-business unit organizations o Must have experience in customer relationship management o Must have in-depth knowledge and skills in on-boarding new business through executing effective implementation best practices
