The Department of Agriculture is looking to welcome two Office Specialists to their team to support the Animal and Plant Health Protection focus-area! These support positions will be responsible for receiving all incoming phone calls and issuing permits for livestock movement, assisting with organization of animal import documents, and other related clerical functions. Because of this, we are looking for someone who is able to effectively communicate, and perform in a highly diversified, fast-paced, and efficient manner. Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am - 5pm
Examples of Work
The main job duties for this position include:

• Assist constituents with compliance of the applicable state and federal statutes and regulations.
• Process inspection documentation.
• Assist with outreach, education, and awareness activities.
• Assist with collection, processing and depositing fees for new licenses or renewals.
• Assist with office phone duties and program supply ordering.
• Organize and manage data for various Agency programs.
• Distribute licenses, permits, registrations or certifications for various programs.
• Scan and index documents for affiliated programs.
• Participate in, and evaluate, process improvement efficiency (PIC) projects agency wide.
• Assist with incoming and outgoing mail.
• General office program support.
• Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Coursework/training in administrative/office support functions, procedures, and methods including the operation of personal computers and office equipment; or areas related to the programs and functions of the employing agency, OR experience in customer service or public contact; or applying criteria/regulations; and/or performing administrative/office/secretarial support work including use of personal computers and office equipment.

PREFERRED: Familiarity with agricultural language preferred but not required; Familiarity with regulatory agricultural programs preferred, but not required. Familiarity with OnBase preferred but not required; Public service experience preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Clerical Office Support Experience (i.e. typing, answering phones, filing, fee collections, data management etc.), Basic Computer Proficiency, adept at working with the public.
