ECS is seeking a Mid to Sr. Level Data Center Engineer to work in our Washington, DC office. Please Note: This position is contingent upon contract award.

Job Description:
ECS-Federal has an immediate opening for an experienced Active Directory Expert.
The Active Directory Expert is responsible for the analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance of the Active Directory infrastructure including Trusts, Group Policies, Replication, Global Catalog, and Distributed File System. The core infrastructure technology duties include Microsoft Active Directory and Windows file service architecture creation and management, global system security, and policy creation, as well as top-level support for enterprise-wide initiatives.

This ECS opportunity is with the US Mint to provide O&M and modernization support for their IT Operations Support division Duties include:

  • Maintain situational awareness over the underlying network infrastructure affecting US Mint application traffic.
  • Lend skills and knowledge of IT systems to facilitate support for US Mint systems.
  • Proactively establish, document, analyze, and iteratively evaluate/change the required network communications processes supporting US Mint applications and systems.
  • Acts as subject matter expert monitoring and evaluating all changes that directly affect systems traversing or directly connected to US Mint assets (Directory Services, SCCM, Group Policy, and ADFS).
  • Assist with AD deployment and maintainability as they affect US Mint personnel and hardware, including the migration to future platforms and upgrades.
  • Oversee and support processes that support US Mint personnel and applications in the AD forest and DNS namespace.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of Enterprise Group Policies Objects as they affect US Mint applications.
  • Accomplish administrative functions required to support the messaging environment.
  • Create, update, and maintain scripts utilized in gathering information from active directory, modifying local systems behavior, and installing applications to assist customers in deploying applications.
  • Generates detailed, comprehensive and clearly understandable documentation associated with each of the automation systems as required.
  • Maintain proficiency as new tools/capabilities are implemented.
  • Establishing system development and integration methodologies and standards
  • Developing enterprise system architectures both for program support and systems integrations for government and commercial agencies.
  • Constructing and testing systems in the development environment
  • Integrating and implementing systems and the supporting infrastructure in the operational environment
  • Monitoring and analyzing performance problems and recommending solutions to enhance functionality, reliability, and usability
  • Developing transition strategies and plans to transition from legacy systems
  • Participating in project/program management reviews and document creation
  • Meeting 24/7 on-call duties over weekends/holidays as necessary.
  • Demonstrated hands-on expertise as an Active Directory Expert.

  • Lend skills and knowledge of IT systems to facilitate support for US Mint systems.
  • Proactively establish, document, analyze, and iteratively evaluate/change the required network communications processes supporting US Mint applications and systems.
  • Assist with AD deployment and maintainability as they affect US Mint personnel and hardware, including the migration to future platforms and upgrades.
  • Accomplish administrative functions required to support the VMWare environment.
  • Create, update, and maintain scripts utilized in gathering information from the active directory, modifying local systems behavior, and installing applications to assist customers in deploying applications.
  • Generates detailed, comprehensive and clearly understandable documentation associated with each of the automation systems as required.
  • Maintain proficiency as new tools/capabilities are implemented.
  • Provide updates to ECS leadership and US Mint leadership
Required Skills:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
  • Must have the following Certifications:
    • VMWare Professional Data Center (VCP-DCV)
    • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (Server 2016 & 2019).
    • RedHat Linux
  • Minimum of 4+ years' experience required leading/supporting Windows Server and Active Directory/Azure AD and Linux in an enterprise environment.
  • Minimum of 12 months of experience supporting ADFS in an Office 365 hybrid environment.
  • Knowledge of VBScript, PowerShell, or other types of scripting languages utilized in gathering information from active directory, deploying software, and report generation.
  • Two to four years of experience in managing servers in a Virtualization/ Hypervisor environment utilizing VMWare, Hyper-V, and Nutanix Acropolis.
  • Four to Eight years' experience with Operating Systems: Windows Server (2016 & 2019), ESXi, and Linux (i.e. RedHat, Oracle, Ubuntu, and CentOS) including administration, management, and troubleshooting.
  • 4-8 years of experience in Information Technology with increasing responsibilities in an enterprise server infrastructure focusing on systems engineering and integration.
  • Hands-on experience in Hardening and Patching Nutanix, ESXi, and VCenter Windows and Linux servers in an enterprise environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Disaster Recovery Replication and CIFS Shares migration.
  • Technical knowledge and experience with ADFS, DNS, WINS, and DHCP experience as an Active Directory administrator with demonstrated understanding of AD operations and maintainability.
  • Strong knowledge of installing, configuring, and maintaining PKI certificates
  • Strong knowledge of Certificates used for derived credentials
  • Strong knowledge of VBScript, PowerShell, or other types of scripting languages utilized in gathering information from an active directory-based environment.
  • Knowledge of Identity, Access Management, and Directory services.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, SharePoint, Project)
  • Must be able to lift 50+ pounds.
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
Desired Skills:
  • 3+ years supporting a large Windows environment and extensive server experience.
  • 3+ years supporting a large VMware environment and extensive virtualization experience.
  • Certified in one of the following areas:
    • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) Server.
    • VMWare Professional Data Center (VCP-NV)
    • VMWare Professional Data Center (VCP-CMA)
    • VMWare Professional Data Center (VCP-DW)
  • Experience with one of the following technologies:
    • InfoBlox
    • RSA Appliance
    • Netscaler
    • Ansible/Satellite
    • Certificate Servers
    • SolarWinds (User or Integrator)
    • EM7/SL1 (User or Integrator)
    • Office 365 (Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive for Business)
    • Cloud Experience: AWS, Docker, Ansible, Puppet, Kickstart
  • DevOps Operational Experience:
    • CI/CD Components
    • Kubernetes
    • OpenShift
  • NetApp SAN; Symantec NetBackup; RedHat Linux experience
  • Experience with ServiceNow or ServiceNow applications (Remedy, HEAT, HPSM, etc.)
  • Oracle LDAP
  • Current Security+CE certification/8570 compliant.
  • ITIL Foundation Certification
  • Database: Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL
  • Scripting: JavaScript, Angular JS, HTML, CSS, PowerShell, PowerBI
