MicroConnex has an immediate opening for an experienced facilities manager to lead the design, layout, operation, and capital project management for the existing facility and future expansion. The facilities manager will ensure that mission critical infrastructure systems including cleanroom controls (temperature, humidity, and particulates), water supply systems (DI and city water), gas supply systems and compressed air supply systems meet performance requirements defined by the process engineering team and are appropriately monitored and maintained to ensure reliable and uninterrupted performance of the manufacturing operation. As-built drawings of all facility-related piping, electrical, HVAC, and air emissions systems will be owned and managed by the facilities manager. The facilities manager will report to the Director of Operations and will act as a team leader for staff supporting the physical plant, process equipment, IT infrastructure and Environmental Health and Safety. This position is a hands-on, "working manager" role with equal time to be spent managing the work of others and delivery against day to day and longer-term commitments as an individual contributor.

The successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter with a desire for continuous improvement of self and surroundings. Total compensation will be competitive and depends on experience.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Generates and executes a long-term strategic plan for the building layout and all factory support systems (cleanroom controls, water supply systems, gas supply systems, and electrical systems).
  • Generates and executes tactical project plans using project management tracking/reporting tools that appropriately balance scope, cost, and schedule as requested by key stakeholders.
  • Monitor and control the performance, capacity, and uptime of critical facilities infrastructure systems (clean rooms, HVAC, humidity, water, and compressed gases).
  • Responsible for executing facilities related corrective and preventative action requests from operations, engineering, or quality department stakeholders.
  • Prepares RFQs and contracts for construction and facilities acquisitions. Reviews and estimates design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation, and other related costs.
  • Prepares budget estimates for building renovations and/or space allocations. Evaluates completed work and validates conformance to specifications.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS

This is an air-conditioned facility with many pieces of equipment that produce heat and/or utilize hazardous/toxic chemicals. The following are potential environmental items encountered: fumes, pinch hazards, energy hazards (e.g. laser light), noise, and/or hazardous/toxic chemicals. Appropriate training is provided and documented based on job placement that complies with OSHA and EPA regulations.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

Clear ANSI Z87.1 safety rated glasses are required for the job when in the manufacturing areas

SPECIALIZED SKILLS
  • Experience supporting process equipment facility requirements, installation, and qualification; direct experience with cleanroom design and operations preferred (thermal, humidity and particle controls).
  • Project management of significant budgets and complexity; Design and operation of H-4 occupancy facilities a plus.
  • Direct experience in specification, installation, operation, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems and equipment.
  • Skilled using Microsoft Office and basic computer skills; especially MS Project, Excel and Power Point.
  • Functional use of CAD programs
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will lead and direct the day-to-day activities of a small team responsible for physical plant, process equipment, IT infrastructure and Environmental Health and Safety.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must be able to communicate in English. Ability to read technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to hear audible alarms.
