SUMMARY

The Material Specialist position has been created to better utilize staffing within the Materials Department. This position enables any individual to accomplish numerous tasks along with the daily Stockroom functions. The duties and responsibilities of the Material Specialist are as follows;

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Material Specialist is required to accomplish accurate computerized transactions, with regard to the following tasks.
  • Required to be able to lift 50 lbs. and work in confined spaces.
  • Be able to operate a Forklift for loading and unloading of material deliveries.
  • Must be able to accomplish computerized transactions in PMI, Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, UNIX, Lotus Notre and Internet Explorer.
  • Must be able to Generate, Quote, and complete transactions to fill open requisitions generated by PMI, Maintenance Control or Line Maintenance.
  • Must be able to Source Suppliers for the procurement of materials needed to fulfill requisitions.
  • Must be able to communicate with Vendors, Suppliers and other Internal Departments of Amerijet to expedite the purchase of Materials to minimize delays
  • Must be able to negotiate pricing, payment terms, and COD arrangements.
  • All items are required to have proper Trace Documentation verified prior to placing Purchase Order.
  • Must be able to source Repair Vendors from the Company Approved Vendor List.
  • Responsible for computerized Transactions required to create and repair orders, update orders, repair quotes, teardown and closing of orders.
  • Must be able to process Exchange Orders on units which are determined to be BER due to repair costs

  • Maintains communications with all involved parties on a project
  • Ensure that work product is accurate, thorough and neat
  • Maintains accurate and concise records/files

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Paperwork reviews, coordinating with records on any records updates as needed.
  • Must be able to handle delicate components, and ensure materials received are free of damage, or missing parts.
  • Responsible for Daily shipments both locally and internationally to Heavy Maintenance facilities as needed.
  • Preparing all required documents for Export as required.
  • Packaging, Labeling, and identification of HAZMAT Materials.
  • Duties include the operation of Forklifts and other lifting devices as needed to unload materials into the warehouse

EDUCATION and/or CERTIFICATION:

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 1 year of material services experience. Customer service a plus.

SKILLS and/or ABILITIES:

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small groups' situations to customers, client and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding carrying out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION:

The employee is regularly required to stand, frequently required walk, use hand to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb and balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear.

Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

TRAVEL

This position may require traveling out-of-state for up two weeks.
