502388 - The Manager for Communications and Events is an integral team member within the Center for Student Involvement that is responsible for all internal and external communications to support the mission and vision of the office. This role will be in charge of the creation, implementation, and evaluation of the office's print and digital marketing, graphic design, web development, social media, photography, videography, and more. This role reports to the Associate Director for Student Centers and Operations, and will work closely with the Student Engagement and New Student Programs teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Communication Strategy and Implementation:

  • Act as brand manager and define the communications strategy for the Center for Student Involvement
  • Create, implement, and evaluate all internal and external communications for various audiences for the Student Involvement team, including digital marketing, graphic design, web development, social media, photography, videography, and more
  • Develop and implement marketing campaigns for campus-wide programming - such as Weeks of Welcome, Homecoming, New Spider Orientation - as well as for Spider Board, the student-led programming board
  • Working with the Center for Student Involvement leadership team, develop executive communications, including annual reports and presentations
  • Design and implement facility visuals and exhibit for Student Centers
  • Hire, train, and supervise student marketing assistant team, typically 1-3 students per semester
  • Serve as the primary liaison to the University of Richmond Communications team, as well as work closely with other campus partners
  • Provide input and content for broader University publications (e.g. University of Richmond Magazine, UR Now) and website
Event Management:
  • Serves as a scheduler for EMS system for events, programs, meetings, reservations, confirmation and approvals for the student centers
  • Coordinates speakers/performers, facilities, technology, equipment, payment, catering, and other logistics for Center for Student Involvement events
  • Manages the digital flyers content for the Student Centers
  • Assists with Center for Student Involvement with event logistics and implementation when needed
Office related duties:
  • Serves on a variety of university and divisional committees, as determined by the Associate Director for Student Centers and Operations and Director of Student Involvement
  • Other duties as assigned by the Associate Director for Student Centers and Operations and the Director of Student Involvement
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strategic planning and visioning
  • Communications, marketing best practices and strategies
  • Publication, web development software
  • Excellent communications skills with experience in a variety of technologies; proofreading/editing skills.
  • Proficient in web communications and graphic software. Experience with the following applications preferred: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver) and Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with clear attention to detail.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in responding to requests from many sources.
  • A self-starter; independent judgment.
  • Planning, collaboration, and time management skills
  • Collaborate, co-create, and build partnerships offices and students
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Required: Must have a valid Driver's License and be able to produce a driving record with a minimum of 3 years of driving history in good standing
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in English, marketing, communications, journalism or related fields is required.
  • One to three years of experience is preferred in marketing, public relations, communications, or related field. Or equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
WORK HOURS:
  • Full-time, exempt position
  • Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; 7.75 hrs./day; 38.75 hrs./week
  • Working evenings and on weekends is a requirement of the position
SALARY STRUCTURE:
Pay Grade 6 (Hiring Range $46,114 to $61,110 annually)
