Liaison, Genomic Science - Marlborough, MA - Monday-Friday
There has been a long standing business need for genetic counselors (GC) within the Medical Affairs organization to support the genetics specialty expertise needs of the Franchise and Commercial teams. GC's are trained to translate difficult, complex genetic information into understandable language and concepts for the non-genetics professional as well as the general population. The unique skill set of genetic counselor lends itself to becoming a key member within each franchise and within the commercial team. The field-based or franchise-dedicated GC position would meet these current business needs as well as serve to help transform the reputation of Quest Diagnostics to a leading genetic testing company by being more visibly on the front lines at professional conferences, meetings with health plans, healthcare providers, our clients and the community at large. The field based GC would also be expected to work with Scientific Publications to develop educational materials for both healthcare providers and patients.
Develop professional working relationships with key clients and becoming a clinical resource for those clientsDevelop standard presentations (PowerPoint's) for use with clients that can be used on a National level by all Field GC'sBe available for visits to key clients for formal and informal educational presentations to healthcare provider groups20-30% expected travel depending on location and territory coverageIntegral team member/participant of new test launchesWork between the S&I team and the Franchise to ensure accurate communication and messaging with new productsResponsible for gathering medical genetic information and when relevant, competitive test information for use in:Development and presentation of training presentations for salesDevelopment and presentation of educational presentations to clients: Healthcare providers and othersWork with Scientific Publications to develop literature for both MD professionals and patients for new tests: both written and onlineServe as consultant to the Health Plan group to educate them, and the Health plans about the clinical utility and uses of specific testingContribute to the development of test dossiers to support clinical utility of test offerings to insure payment by 3rd party payers.Providing clinical expertise at booth exhibits for appropriate clinical meetingsServe on local and national Franchise advisory teams as neededWork with IT to design, format and provide content for web-based portal with educational literature and videos for both patients and clientsContributing to scientific literature through submission of abstracts, original articles, talks, posters etc. would be expected. Collaborations with internal colleagues and with clients are strongly encouraged.
Minimum of a Master's degree in Genetic Counseling or related field, plus two or more years of related experience preferredFor those who are Board Eligible/Board Certified as a Genetic Counselor it would be expected to continue professional education sufficient to maintain current requirements for re-certification in the ABGC. Maintains licensures where applicableStrong verbal and written communication skillsStrong presentation skills, outgoing personalityDemonstrated decision making and organizational skills needed for leadership and teambuilding.Working knowledge of PC operation, including appropriate genetics packages and standards such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.Proven ability to accomplish tasks both independently and as a member of a team.Must have the ability to work effectively with diverse departments within the organizationExemplify professionalism consistent with Quest Diagnostics' values, vision and missionAbility to travel 20-30Þmonstrated accountability for professional growth and job performance by seeking education opportunities based on identified goals.
