POSITION PURPOSE

The Skilled Laborer will report to the Project Coordinator. Duties will include performing a wide variety of skilled duties in the maintenance such as framing and forming, concrete work as it pertains to forming, reinforcing, and cast in place concrete, safe excavation, including digging, trenching, shoring, and backfilling, insulation of piping, and basic masonry installation and brick repair. This is a Bargaining Unit Position and the candidate will be required to join the local union chapter.

PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

• Applies Health & Safety standards in carrying out all work assignments, using appropriate safety devices and equipment
• Required to work both scheduled and unscheduled overtime to support facility activities
• Required to wear a half face respirator or powered air respirator (PAPR) where proper safety procedures warrant their use
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education / Experience / Background

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• 1 - 3 years' experience in one or more of the skilled trades
• Must have experience with sound safety practices using hand tools and power equipment related to job assignments

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

• Ability to hear and understand audible alarms, detect changes in noise levels of rotating equipment and portable radio communication

Required Certification / Licenses / Training

• Must possess and maintain a valid Class 3 Massachusetts driver's license with a satisfactory driving record to maintain minimum company required insurance coverage

Physical Requirements

• Must be willing to work as an asbestos abatement worker
• Able to work a fixed-shift assignment to support plant operations as assigned
• Ability to lift heavy equipment and carry materials up and down stairs with the capacity of lifting 80 pounds
