Job Description

  • Process seed samples submitted for testing
  • Assist supervisor of the lab in assuring that samples are processed to meet Quality goals
  • Maintain laboratory spaces, equipment and incubators
  • Conduct work in accordance with the Quality assurance system of the laboratory
  • Provide customer service for the laboratory
  • Follow all laboratory Health and safety policies
  • Perform all aspects of sample processing including but not limited to, counting and preparing samples, running of samples, planting seed samples, and preparing buffers and media.
  • Perform qPCR and PCR for different tests, serological and immunostrip testing, isolation, purification, and maintenance of cultures, pathogenicity tests, etc.
  • Assist with evaluating of samples
  • Maintain adequate inventory of supplies to process samples
  • Assist in determining resource and labor requirements to meet quality assurance goals
  • Participate in training of co-workers to assist with labor requirements
  • Assist in keeping equipment calibrated and up to date
  • Assure that glassware, plastic ware, and other supplies are clean/appropriate for the preparation of media, buffers and solutions, and others
  • Record processing information
  • Maintain customer confidentiality in accordance with EBDI policies

Qualifications
  • HS diploma or GED and 1+yrs lab experience ORa BS in plant biology or related fields
