Position summary:

$1500 HIRING BONUS AFTER 90 DAYS OF WORK!

The Lead Teacher will implement curriculum in a safe, healthy and nurturing classroom environment that supports each student's social, emotional, physical and cognitive growth and development. The primary objectives of the Lead Teacher are to: (1) Support student's social emotional development through positive/conscious discipline, (2) Provide students with attentive relational care and education, (3) Plan developmentally appropriate learning opportunities rooted in students' interests, (4) Design and maintain a learning environment that is inspiring and is conducive to the optimal growth and development of each student. The Lead Teacher reports to the School Leader.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Learning Environment
  • Provide experiences and guidance that attend to student's emotional needs and emotional management skill building.
  • Maintain a classroom environment free of shaming, degrading, or disrespectful language.
  • Take initiative to make the school an effective and meaningful experience for students and families, adapting to their individual needs.
  • Model effective and professional classroom management practices rooted in positive or conscious discipline, redirecting students appropriately.
  • Consistently use responsive and engaging instructional strategies.
  • Ensure classroom materials are available, in good repair, and used efficiently. This involves, checking regularly to ensure that supplies are available and informing a School Leader when supplies are needed.
  • Create a homelike, clutter free, organized learning environment that encourages students' self-regulation.

  1. Academics
  • Know how to combine direct instruction with projects initiated and directed by the students with teacher support.
  • Identify developmental goals based on observations, developmentally appropriate assessments and anecdotal notes.
  • Plan and implement daily lesson plans based on developmental goals for the individual student and demonstrate the ability to identify students' interests and experiences from recorded observations in the form of anecdotal notes and student work samples.
  • Provide activities and opportunities that encourage curiosity, exploration, and problem-solving appropriate to the developmental levels of students.
  • Alert School Leader about students facing barriers to education in an effort to determine the need for intervention support and adjust the learning environment and curriculum accordingly.
  • Measure and monitor learning goals and maintain accurate records of students' progress and development utilizing appropriate assessment tools, including work samples and observations.

  1. People & Personal Leadership
  • Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical and responsible, exhibiting good attendance and punctuality.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, fellow staff and school leaders.
  • Maintain open, friendly, and cooperative relationships with each student's family and encourage their involvement in the school.
  • Provide parent conferences and assist in school-wide events as requested.
  • Participate actively in staff required meetings, training sessions, and school visits by prospective parents as necessary.
  • Utilize technology to provide parents with access to their students' learning through photos, video and anecdotal notes regularly.
  • Stay abreast and current with education research trends and be a knowledgeable resource for parents on child and adolescent development.
  • Support and develop assistant teachers and other classroom staff through training, feedback, and coaching.
  • Perform any other duties as requested in support of the school and students.

  1. Safety
  • Maintain a safe classroom environment based on safety standards set by Endeavor and state licensing.
  • Adhere to Employee Handbook and Endeavor's Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Ensure the school complies with all federal, state, and local regulations and licensing requirements.
  • Monitor and maintain classroom ratios at all times by informing School Leader of any ratio discrepancies as necessary.

  • Creativity: Develop and apply innovative and original teaching methods and instructional resources to enhance learning and maintain student interest.

Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Elementary, Middle or High School education (depending on position applying for) or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience in working with Elementary, Middle or High-School Students.
  • State licensing requirements for a Lead Teacher serving this age group.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment as a laptop and smartphone.
  • Current teaching license in the state of Ohio.
