Job Summary
This position is responsible for managing small to moderate sized projects. This position has overall responsibility for developing a project plan that is delivered within the agreed upon tolerances of time and budget. This position will continuously work in partnership with different business and technical stakeholders and will provide tactical management and project administration to the project team. This position is responsible for the coordination of leading multi-disciplinary project teams to deliver technology projects of varying size and complexity, focusing specifically on software implementation or enhancement projects.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Reviews project proposals or plans to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing projects, staffing requirements and allotment of available departmental resources to various project phases.
  • Creates a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project
  • Formulates and defines the technical scope and objectives of the project. Reviews the project schedule and plan with business partners and staff participating in the implementation of the project.
  • Oversees the execution of the project plan. Ensures that forms and records are created to document the project activities and progress. Identifies and schedules project deliverables, milestones and required tasks. Assigns duties and responsibilities to project personnel. Overcomes challenges and makes adjustments as necessary to ensure successful completion of the project.
  • Communicates with stakeholders on the progress of the project. Creates reports that describe the status of the project and budget associated with the project.
  • Evaluates, with the business partner, the outcomes of the project and establishes plans for any next steps or follow up activities necessary.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Completes all required compliance training. Maintains knowledge of and adhere to Flagstar's internal compliance policies and procedures. Takes responsibility to keep up to date with changing regulations and policies.

Job Requirements:
  • High School Diploma, GED, or foreign equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree plus 3 years minimum experience (as described below) preferred, or 7 years of comparable experience required.
  • Project Management certificate (PMP) from the Project Management Institute (PMI) preferred.
  • PMI member in good standing required.
  • Clarity, ITIL Foundations certified preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in project management including development, implementation, and maintenance of systems preferably across multiple hardware and software platforms.
  • 2 years of experience working with Agile or Waterfall methodologies for project management.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver development projects from inception to successful implementation.
  • Solid project management skills with the demonstrated ability to multitask and manage multiple small and mid-size projects in a cross-functional environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver projects using Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Solid understanding of the software development process, including requirement gathering, analysis/design, development tools/technologies, release/version control, contemporary testing methodologies and deployment management.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating detailed documentation for moderate sized projects.
  • Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and achieve results.
  • Good ability in interpreting customer business needs and translating them into application and operational requirement.
  • Ability to communicate needs and schedules, as well as ensure that plans are in place and standards are adhered to.
  • Good ability to communicate verbally and in technical writing to all levels of the organization in a proactive, contextually appropriate manner.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills at all management levels.
  • Good ability to prioritize work by dividing time, attention, and effort between current project workload and ongoing support tasks.
  • Ability to influence those not within direct control.
  • Ability to coordinate and execute cross functionally with technical managers, business managers, SMEs, and customers.
  • Some financial analysis skills and familiarity with financial reporting tools.
