GHD is seeking a Graduate Engineer/Geologist/Scientist to work with our Contaminated Assessment Remediation (CAR) group as a CAR professional based out of one of our Midwest region office locations.

This position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Perform a wide variety of field duties for both routine/scheduled and emergency environmental projects to include: inspection, maintenance, monitoring, construction oversight, air monitoring, and operations and maintenance of remediation systems
  • Conduct environmental sampling and monitoring for various media and contaminants of concern by following established procedures
  • Opportunity to respond to environmental emergencies to perform field tasks.
  • Prepare technical correspondence, project proposals, technical reports, work plans, and project specifications including cost estimates and budgets - Data compilation, reduction, interpretation, evaluation/comparison to environmental regulatory standards

  • Sound understanding of soil and groundwater investigation and remediation strategies
  • Client engagement approach and stewardship
  • Complex problem solving as it relates to environmental remediation and economic decision making
  • Balancing the triangle of Scope, Schedule, and Budget to produce the best results possible for our clients
  • Diverse professional networks spanning the globe and multitudes of disciplines
  • Opportunities to engage in a wide range of environmental and geographical settings
  • Experience in coordinating and simultaneously managing multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail in a consulting environment.
What you will bring to the team:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Applied Science (Engineering, Geology, or Science)
  • 1-3 years' experience including a mix of field, data evaluation and interpretation and technical report writing
  • Detail oriented with the ability to balance a diverse and changing workload
  • Critical thinking and problem solving - ability to identify multiple solutions to a problem
  • Willingness to respond to call outs during non-routine working hours
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and aptitude
  • Positive attitude, very strong interpersonal skills
  • Conduct research, collect and analyze data to prepare reports and documents
  • Establishing and maintaining harmonious working relationships with superiors, co-workers and clients - effective collaborators are welcome
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet project timelines
  • Self-motivated and willingness to work in a team in a fast-paced environment
  • OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER certification is a plus
  • Interested in continuing professional development
  • The role requires safe driving skills, ability to work in the field under varied weather conditions, and ability to life and carry 50 pounds.
