The Propulsion Systems Testing & Analysis Battery Testing Lead is a highly motivated technical manager, with a deep and broad background with automotive testing labs as the foundation of the role. The Global Testing Lead will ensure global alignment of test processes and equipment between the regional labs, ensuring Stellantis is uniform in the way batteries are testing globally. Other responsibilities include: Establish and maintain global workload studies that forecast each lab's workload - identifying gaps in testing or situations where equipment and resources may be over prescribed; Benchmark the outside testing supply base regionally, maintaining supplier capabilities, costs, and availability in the event testing needs to be offloaded; Keep current with industry trends relative to high voltage cell, module, and pack testing, serving as an organizational reference point for battery testing; Establish and develop battery testing metrics for report out to upper management monthly; and Develop a vision and strategy for CapEx investment over a 5-year period. The candidate will also help establish lab operating procedures and processes with the operational teams. This is a global position; thus, the selected candidate must be comfortable leading a global team of regional testing leads in both North America and Enlarged Europe. This position will require travel between the US and Canada, so the selected individual will be required to travel freely across the border, as well as between North America and Europe.

Other responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Provide consultation and troubleshooting support with issues that may arise within the Propulsion Systems Lab organization
  • Work with Operational leads and EH&S to establish safety standards for high voltage safety standards, processes, and best practices
  • Guide, direct and set standards with existing and new test stands/cells
  • Work across multiple organizations and engineering disciplines to develop test stand and equipment specifications for equipment that will be integrated into Stellantis facilities
  • Support the yearly CapEx process by assisting the various groups with both equipment specification and business case development.
  • Serve as the technical lead in various project meetings between Stellantis, test equipment suppliers, architectural/engineering partners, and general contractors
  • Provide support as needed during the commissioning phase of various projects throughout the Propulsion Systems Labs
  • Work with Facilities to ensure process systems meet current and future testing needs
  • Benchmark both suppliers and competitors for capabilities and best-in-class test systems
  • Attend industry conferences and trade shows related to high voltage testing
  • Share lessons learned between regional labs relative to battery testing
  • Coach and mentor regional battery testing leads
  • Perform yearly employee assessments, evaluations, and work with employees on development
  • Hire and train staff as needed
  • Ensure staff completes all mandatory corporate training as needed
