HOMESTEAD MIAMI SPEEDWAY

Homestead-Miami Speedway celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2020, as it continues to generate more than $301 million of annual economic benefit. The Speedway was home to NASCAR's championship races from 2002 through 2019 - the longest such stretch in pro sports. It is regarded as the most competitive 1.5-mile track on the circuit, and also boasts a 2.21-mile road course, which is used for many racing disciplines throughout the year. In addition to its NASCAR race weekend, the track plays host to events of all types more than 300 days out of the year. During a visit to the track, fans are easily reminded of everything that Miami is known for such as an infield beach party, a slice of the area's Cuban culture, three fresh spring water lakes, and much more!

NASCAR seeks a talented individual to join in the position of General Maintenance / Mechanic based in Homestead-Miami, Florida.

Position Purpose

Perform routine preventative maintenance and repair procedures on vehicles, generators and other power equipment to include lubricating, cleaning, servicing, inspecting, and testing for proper performance. Participate in facility operations general maintenance. Complete tasks to prepare equipment, racetrack and related facilities for all track activity including major NASCAR Cup weekend and other events and track rentals at HMS.

Specific duties
  • Visually inspect, operate, and listen to equipment to diagnose malfunctions
  • Dismantle and reassemble engines, machines and motorized equipment to gain access to problem areas and make repairs
  • Examine parts for damage or excessive wear and determine re-usability
  • Change fluids and lubricate equipment and related components
  • Perform preventive maintenance functions
  • Repair and replace malfunctioning subassemblies and components
  • Weld, cut and fabricate
  • Change tires and repair tires and tubes
  • Test repaired equipment to ensure operating efficiency
  • Make recommendations for repairs to be made by outside services
  • Requisition parts and equipment
  • Keep record and reports
  • Provide general housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe facility
  • Work with Operations and HMS staff to execute major events and other track activity
  • With proper training, operate HMS vehicles and equipment as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working with outside vendors and contractors.
  • Must be organized and detail oriented.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Work Conditions/Physical Requirements
  • In addition to the normal work schedule, which varies depending on the season, must be able to work extended hours during events and weekends.
  • Work performed in environments with a wide range of temperature and weather conditions (extreme heat/cold). The employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
  • While performing the duties of this job, employee will regularly experience vibration and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee would occasionally work in high, precarious places or be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electric shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud but can be very loud at times.
  • Employee is regularly required to stand and walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; and taste or smell.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Special Position Requirements

Ability to withstand physical challenges of respective multi-tasks.

Position may require travel as requested.
