PURPOSE:

Accounting support for Plant Controller in the preparation of all financial/accounting, operational, and internal control information to support meeting and/or exceeding established plant and functional area goals. Is considered a potential back-fill for the controller's position.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


* Complete controller tasks, including month end closing requirements, in the absence of a controller or when assigned
* Provide accurate information for departmental measurement systems that enable plant management team to track and measure performance.
* Provide timely and accurate analysis on actual plant performance, responsibility statements, and company scorecards.
* Track expenses for accuracy and evaluation.
* Review and verify invoices to ensure accuracy, cost center assignment, and timely forwarding to corporate AP for processing.
* Develop and conduct audits consistent with control responsibilities to identify plant control issues and monitor compliance.
* Support centralized hourly payroll function as assigned to issue timely and accurate payrolls.
* Participate in the month-end closing process to ensure accurate and timely financial reports.
* Participate in the setting of standard costs and the budgeting process, as assigned.
* Assist in the monitoring and analysis of material flow, MUV, scrap, and other operational issues as they relate to financial results
* Actively participate on assigned teams and/or projects.
* Support and represent company as a union-free environment, or where a union already exists support a good working relationship with the union, honoring budget commitments and minimizing the effects of restrictive practices.
* Provide a safe and productive work environment, including housekeeping.
* Participate in the identification and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
* Manage assigned accounting clerical staff to achieve departmental goals.

* Perform other tasks as directed by supervisor.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

May manage one or two employees in the financial area. If applicable, includes the direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit.



QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required.



Education, Experience and Skills


* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related discipline; advanced degree is a plus.
* Minimum of two years financial experience is required; manufacturing environment is a plus.
* Experience with financial programs including but not limited to basic cost accounting, payroll administration, accounts payable/receivable, and general ledger.
* Excellent personal computer skills in a network environment; Microsoft products experience required - Outlook, Word, Excel. Access experience a plus.
* CPA certificate a plus.
* Track record of successful project management
* Experience in working in a team environment
* Strong planning/organization/time management skills
* Demonstrated problem solving skills



Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common financial and business journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to listen and communicate effectively with customers/clients and co-workers in an effort to respond to common inquires or complaints from customers/clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community and public. Ability to develop presentations to be delivered to the production team, plant level team, or public groups.



Mathematical Skills:

Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts like addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division to basic manufacturing performance recording or financial performance recording.



Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 20 pounds.



WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Typical indoor manufacturing environment. The noise level is usually moderate to high and hearing protection may be required on the production floor. Safety glasses are required on the production floor. Infrequent out-of-town travel may be required. Occasional weekend work may be required.
