Job Description: Corporate Engineering Technologist

Position Purpose: This position is primarily accountable for providing drawing and documentation support to the corporate engineering team. Position responsibilities will include developing 2-D and 3-D designs independently or in unison with the corporate engineering team. The design, installation and documentation of plant process and packaging systems is the core competency for the corporate engineering department. The position will also include occasional support of equipment installations and leading small projects.

Principle Accountabilities:

• Responsible for the corporate drawing management system
  • Lead for the SharePoint drawing management system filing and archiving
  • Audit drawings for standard adherence and formatting
  • Create and Manage drawing workflow process
• Update, modify and create Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Isometric Drawings, 2-D Plant layout drawings, 3-D plant layout drawings, and additional drawings & schematics
• Validate and update as-built drawings
• Coordinate cross functional equipment drawing reviews to validate designs
• Future responsibilities to use 3-D scanner to generate models of existing plants and maintain a library of up-to date models
• Under guidance of the engineer, apply the Process Safety Management (PSM) regulations, building code, and NFPA fire code to designs
• Frequent interface with corporate staff, plant staff, operators, and maintenance personnel across 3-shift operations.
• Travel (25%+) required for project work at multiple domestic manufacturing sites

Secondary Accountabilities:

• Lead and support packaging & processing equipment installations including drafting modifications contractor management at the domestic manufacturing sites.
• Support engineer led equipment design reviews, factory acceptance testing at OEM sites, and overall capital project execution
• An additional responsibility will be construction management support of equipment installations overseeing the execution of contractor safety rules, processes and guidelines to ensure safe project completion.
• Assist and support corporate project engineers who are responsible for the following activities.
  • Capital project execution including equipment selection, justification, Capital Authorization Request processing, purchasing, and installation. Support start-up efforts including transition to plant engineering & operations.
  • Engineers within the team are assigned specific portions of capital projects based on expertise and workload availability including project management, technical design of packaging equipment & paint making/processing equipment, and construction management.

Education/Experience Requirements:

• Associates Degree recommended and an A.A.S. in Mechanical Design/Engineering Technology or Chemical Engineering Technology preferred.
• Strong proficiency in 2-D and 3-D CAD design is required
• Previous experience in drawing management systems is required
• A high level of independent, self- initiative and multi-tasking is required
• 3+ years of experience in drafting and engineering design is preferred
• Good project management, written and verbal communication skills are preferred
• Experience in construction management preferred
• Experience in Microsoft (Office, Word, Excel, SharePoint, etc.) applications is preferred
