Position Summary: Join a dynamic team making a difference in the lives of the individuals and families we serve. LifeMoves has an awesome opportunity to reduce food waste and improve the health of clients served at LifeMoves by distributing donated food to clients in need. This position travels throughout both San Mateo and Santa Clara counties delivering food and supplies between LifeMoves sites and partner organizations. This is a non-exempt position.

Essential Functions:

  • Load a delivery vehicle with a variety of food, materials, and equipment.
  • Pick up product at the Second Harvest Food Bank. Shop for a variety of fresh produce and perishable foods. Deliver produce and perishable foods to sites.
  • Communicate with staff at each location to meet organization needs.
  • Ensure and record proper temperature of all refrigerators and freezers and report any deficiencies with the equipment to the Food Services Manager.
  • Receive, process, and store warehouse supplies, materials, and equipment.
  • Receive and process delivery acknowledgement receipts. Operate a variety of warehouse equipment and hand truck.
  • Conduct inventory reviews and maintain inventory control procedures on a weekly basis.
  • Contribute to the cleanliness of storage areas. Manage and monitor the safe storage of all food products. First in first out (the first products in are the first ones to go out.) Assess food donations prior to stocking and storing items in compliance with food safety procedures.
  • Collect and distribute interoffice mail and other materials throughout LifeMoves locations.
Position Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Professional experience in food service a plus.
  • Personal or professional experience working with the homeless or with mental health clients a plus.
  • An understanding of, or willingness to learn about, ideas and practices that promote diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Ability to work as part of a team to meet foodservice team goals.
  • Ability to complete food safety training and testing.
  • Proficiency in internet research and software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must hold a current driver's license and proof of liability insurance.
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds safely.
  • Must be able to pass background check
  • Must be able to problem solve independently and work as a team member.
  • Must be flexible, prompt and reliable.
Physical Activity Requirements:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk or hear; and taste or smell
  • The employee is required to walk and sit frequently. The employee is occasionally required to stand; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
