Blue Cross of Idaho is looking for a Director Sales to direct all prospects and generate new sales activities for targeted market segments. This role is responsible for the development and implementation of sales strategies, activities, and policies to meet sales and membership objectives for the Company.

To be considered for this opportunity you have:

Experience: 10 years of sales or business development experience to include management experience, preferably within health insurance or healthcare

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, or related field; or equivalent work experience (Two years' relevant work experience is equivalent to one-year college)

Certifications/Licenses: State of Idaho Resident License or must obtain within 120 days of hire

Other - Travel and/or attend off site events during and outside of standard working hours

In this role, we will ask you to:


  • Create, execute, and oversee a one, three, and five-year strategic sales plan in partnership with peers and senior leadership.

  • Prioritize the allocation implementation of staff, processes, and technology to meet the strategy.

  • Assess broker, customer, and/or client needs and recommend appropriate products and/or solutions.

  • Recommend program/product changes and monitor to evaluate the performance of products.

  • Provide market feedback and information for sales forecasting. Monitor competitor activities and practices through accurate group and customer feedback and inform leadership.

  • Review and verify data on business opportunities and market trends.

  • Ensure achievement of financially sustainable membership growth, retention, and revenue goals.

  • Ensure the recruitment, development, communication, and training for the broker distribution channel, ensuring effective sales.

  • Retain, build, and strengthen relationships with brokers, consultants, and clients to generate future sales growth and maintains existing business. Ensure the Company has active participation and presence in community and industry organizations.

  • Analyze data and identify opportunities to grow membership including historical trends, prospects, and specific products

  • Ensure sales tools are maintained with documentation of activities, call notes, prospect information, future tasks, and other required information to support the overall sales plan.

  • May assist account management with renewals.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
