Purpose
The Director, Contracts New England Wind Projects is a critical role focused on the delivery of the large-multimillion Supply Chain Contracts for the 2GW offshore wind projects off the coast of New England (the "Project"). The role operates as part of the Project Services Department, but within the Project reports to the New England Wind Project Director.
The role is responsible for defining the Project contracting strategies alongside the corporate Procurement team, leading the contractual negotiations, managing the commercial aspects of the contracts once executed, anticipating and managing the contractual risks, opportunities and threats; and prepare alongside the legal team the project strategy for the claims management and potential arbitration processes. The individual will be working as part of a global business and as such will ensure coordination of the project interfaces (internal and external) with other areas of the project (engineering, construction, package management,...) and corporate functions (procurement, legal, insurances, taxes, risks, control, ....) when it comes to contractual and commercial related aspects as well as ensuring the implementation of the global business contract management methodology, specific contractual and commercial procedures/methodologies and lessons learned in the project. The position will require travels to various locations in the US and overseas to Europe, and during development, contracting and delivery of projects (large packages) the individual will be managing teams working at different countries and project locations.
Responsibilities
•Being part of the of the recruitment process to ensure the Project has competent and expert contract managers of all levels. Working with Project Services Department to develop & ensure that resourcing strategies support the resource demands through the peaks and troughs.
•Providing day to day management of the Project Contracts team ensuring that Project requirements are adequately covered in individual development plans, objective setting (performance management) and other line management functions are aligned with the project.
•Working with Project Services Department to ensure appropriate training and development of the contracting staff.
•Developing adequately balanced risk profiles through development of the contracting strategy and ongoing contract management.
•Providing commercial advice to the contract management team and Project Management team, anticipating global and relevant contractual and commercial risks and opportunities and implement control measures or actions as appropriate.
•Applying global business standards develop, hold and control the necessary processes and procedures required to develop and contract the Project.
•Overseeing the negotiation and executing of the Supply Chain contracts and leading the contractual and commercial management level discussions. The Supply chain contracts includes (but not limited to) Wind Turbine Supply and Installation, Offshore and Onshore Substations, Foundations Supply and Installation, Cables (Export & Array) Supply and Installation, Engineering/Consultant and Design, Geotechnical and Geophysical surveys, Large Electrical Equipment supply and commissioning.... ,
•Ensure that the Project business case, is supported with detailed contractual risk assessments across all disciplines e.g. turbines, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, marine, geological, weather, offshore installation, ports and logistics etc...
Skills and Requirements
Technical and practical knowledge of offshore wind technology.
Experinec in oil and gas can be considered
•Experience in management of large multidisciplinary teams.
•Experience in management of large multidisciplinary contracting strategies.
•Experience in delivery and management of large-multimillion construction contracts
•Proven track record delivering large, complex, multidisciplinary designs and execution of works in an offshore environment.
•Strong knowledge of industry standards and offshore regulations.
•Knowledge of health and safety and environmental legislation associated with construction projects.
•Proven capability of delivering against multiple targets with the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
•Pro-active and diligent approach.
•Excellent stakeholder management & interpersonal skills.
•Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
•Good organizational and operational skills with the ability to link this awareness to contractual judgement and decision making.
•Ability to adapt quickly to a rapidly changing in working environment and demonstrate a positive approach to change.
•High degree of self-motivation with a flexible approach to work.
•Computer literate with a good working of Microsoft office applications as well as an ability to deal with new software.
•Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
