Position Overview:

Motiva is hiring a Developer in our Supply, Logistics & Risk organization to deliver .Net and SQL code and configuration changes in support of the company's RightAngle integrated reporting platform. This role will perform technical design, coding, configuration, and unit testing. All code will be managed in the DevOps repository. Support of deployments and test cycles will be performed as requested. This individual will work closely alongside project managers, IT business analysts and other developers so teamwork is key to success. This person will be a proven performer in a fast-paced culture and highly integrated technical environment. The successful candidate will be familiar with testing lifecycle and issue management processes. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to understand and manage work scope, excellent time management, have excellent communication skills, and proactively communicate status of work, risks/issues to their teammates and manager.

Responsibilities:

Individual will be responsible for:

  • Translate business requirements into technical deliverables and estimate work efforts
  • Applying programming best practices to develop quality designs and code
  • Test planning and execution in complex functional domains; plan effective testing regimes using cases, data, and expected results.
  • Follow testing lifecycle and issue management protocols and use a detail orientated, "find-the-problem-to-fix-it" mentality
  • Provide technical expertise and functional context to process design and architecture teams
  • Review available solutions, presenting the options, and providing recommendations to IT team members
  • Manage code versioning in the code repository
  • Offer Tactical and Strategic steer in resolving complex end-to-end issues and drive improvements for technology excellence
  • Appropriately and professionally represent Motiva and Motiva IT in all interactions with Motiva-external parties

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma required; B.S. in relevant field preferred
  • 8+ years' experience with ETRM applications (Crude and Refined Products sectors preferred)
  • 2+ years' experience working as a RightAngle developer required
  • 6+ years' experience working with Middle Office related calculations and reports preferred
  • Excellent SQL and .Net coding skills
  • Understanding deal valuation for linear and non-linear instruments
  • Understand PNL attribution methods and has experience coding them
  • Understand how the Greeks are calculated and experience coding them
  • Familiarity with the different methods to create a market price stress test
  • Familiarity with V@R calculation methods, specifically the Parametric method and how to calculate the historical volatility from a timeseries and how to build a correlation matrix
  • Understand both historical and implied volatility calculations and has experience writing code to calculate the values
  • Demonstrated ability to manage scope and work, escalating risk/issues whenever they become apparent and delivering within the time constraints agreed upon with the project manager or team lead.
  • Critical thinking skills are required to decompose problems into logical analysis steps which lead to root cause identification and quality solutions.
  • Familiarity with RightAngle technical architecture
  • Familiarity with Excel VBA Add-ins
  • Proficient with MS Sql Server and strong Transact SQL skills
  • Experience writing technical documentation such as software installation procedures and design specifications
  • Familiarity with the Agile Scrum framework helpful
  • Participate in Agile sprint planning, daily Scrum, and sprint lookback activities
  • Action oriented, high level of energy and results oriented
