Overview

Position Summary: Performs complex assignments supporting project teams in the design and development of products. Work on a project team with minimal supervision. Requires strong technical skills, extensive design knowledge, and detailed understanding of the applicable product development and manufacturing process. Acts as leader and resource for other drafters and designers.

KEY ACCOUNTIBILITY

• Provides the highest level of applicable design (Mechanical and/or PCB) support to a project team. Have excellent knowledge applicable design and documentation practices. Understands the product development, manufacturability and supply chain process. Can contribute new ideas which add value to our products and processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Accept multiple task assignments and manage time and deliverables accordingly.

• Design and document per company standards complex products per product requirements and engineering input.

• Develop complex 3D modeling and/or complex multilayer PCB layouts and associated design/manufacturing document packages.

• Coordinate engineering proto builds with Operations, Development Engineers, Suppliers and Contract manufacturers.

• Initiate PCN's and deviations in accordance with approved processes.

• Capable of specifying and locating sources for component parts and procuring them.

• Participate in design reviews.

• Follow company policies and procedures.

• Other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
• This is primarily an office based position requiring significant amount of PC use.

• Some travel required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Education:

• Associates degree or equivalent education or equivalent experience.

Years of Experience:

• Minimum 8 year relevant work experience.

Other Requirements:

• Ability to work directly with engineering, operations, sales and outside vendors on product related issues

• Expert in use of applicable design tools (Mechanical 3D modeling and drafting tools, schematic capture tools).

• Capable of determining cause of system level problems to a sub-system (hardware, mechanical, component) and supporting operations in resolving applicable issues.

• Industrial design experience a plus.

• Strong understanding of how our products are used by our Customers.

• Detailed understanding of manufacturing processes and product manufacturability.
