We are seeking a Cylinder Tech I/II to manage and perform overall maintenance of the BSC cylinder fleet. This encompasses all sizes of cylinders, valves, and other cylinder hardware. Level will be commensurate with experience.

Job Responsibilities (Cylinder Technician I)

  • Maintains inventory and cycle count of all cylinders on site and in the fleet
  • Prepares and stages cylinders for production needs
  • Supports cylinder need for R&D and Pilot Plant
  • Inspects and repairs cylinders, cylinder valves, and cylinder fittings
  • Removes labels and paints cylinders
  • Maintains organized and clean storage locations
  • Valves new cylinders and installs dip tubes
  • Assists in maintaining cylinder files in the MRP system
  • Sand blasts cylinders, wells, and other parts
Job Responsibilities (Cylinder Technician II; in addition to Cylinder Technician I responsibilities)
  • Coordinates the cylinder certification process, both 2.5 and 5 year tests, with the outside contractor who is responsible for certifications
  • Schedules the outside cylinder test contractor to the site
  • Keeps up to date records of all cylinders; updates MRP and the Cylinder Fleet records
  • Gets quotes for and places orders for all cylinders required to maintain inventory levels
  • Maintains organization and cleanliness of the cylinder shop and outside storage areas
  • Maintains the certification paperwork for each cylinder in the fleet
  • Coordinates activities with other Cylinder Technicians in the shop
  • Handle solvents during Cylinder Recertification
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Cylinder II role: current Respirator Certification preferred
Experience
  • At least one year of related experience for Cylinder Technician I
  • At least three years of related experience for Cylinder Technician II
  • Previous experience with Chemical Handling is a plus
  • Experience with filling or testing cylinders similar to those in the fleet preferred
  • Forklift experience a plus (Certification preferred)
Work Environment

The job requires work outside in all weather for short periods of time. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee will be working in areas that may require the use of PPE.
