JOB SUMMARY

The Medical Assistant I and the Certified Medical Assistant I and and Registered Medical Assistant I will provide supportive patient care functions for an assigned clinical area, under the supervision of a Physician, Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse, ensuring the safety and comfort of patints and families according to legal, organizational and professional standards. Some duties may be delegated to the MA by the physician or RN.
Medical Assistant II and the Certified Medical Assistant II and Registered Medical Assistant II- Both positions require additional duties which include administration of injectables and or other high-level skill performance.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education

A.

High School Diploma or GED from an accredited program and Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program

B.

Experience

A.

MA I-1 year of directly related experience as a medical assistant OR Successful completion of an externship.

MA II-5 years of experience as a Medical Assistant

CMA I/RMA I-This is an entry-level role. No experience required.

CMA II/RMA II-3 years of directly related experience as a Medical Assistant OR successful completion of an externship at Kelsey-Seybold with 6 months of experience for MAs or CMAs hired prior to and active as of November 1, 2015 with no breaks in service.

Successful completion of an externship at Kelsey-Seybold

1 year of experience related to department or specialty

Licenses

A.

MA I OR MA II -No license required.

CMA I OR II/RMA I or II-Certified or Registered as a Medical Assistant

Special Skills

Able to use equipment and related supplies for selected patient population. Computer experience.
