We are looking for a Business Development and Operations Manager to accelerate the growth of Well+Good's commerce and media business segments. You will evaluate, plan, build, and execute on a strategy to drive new lines of business and revenue growth, through net new partnerships and current operational management and optimizations. An emphasized focus will be on the management of internal and external stakeholders of our recently launched Storefront, and support Well+Good financial planning and OPEX management.

You'll Report To: Senior Director, Business Operations

A typical day as a Business Development and Operations Manager might include:

  • 50% Commerce Management and Development, 25% General Operations and OPEX management, 25% New Business Development
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders of The Well+Good SHOP, including audience development, creative strategy/curation, and editorial, to meet business goals and objectives.
  • Find opportunities to grow SHOP revenue and work with cross functional teams to execute optimizations and net new growth strategies.
  • Support the Sr. Director, Business Operations in identifying high potential partnership opportunities and the strategy to pursue them for Well+Good; with a focus on deals that will enhance our editorial offering to our readers, extend our reach, and open new opportunities to drive revenue.
  • Evaluate and assess the strategic and economic impact of potential opportunities with prospective partners, performing a broad range of quantitative and qualitative analyses.
  • Map the market of prospective partners and manage a pipeline of partnership opportunities.
  • Own all elements of a partnership life cycle: scoping of opportunities, framing of value, negotiation of term sheets and contracts, implementation and optimization.
  • Work with cross functional teams to ensure partner implementations are on track and delivering against plan.
  • Communicate and report to leadership and key stakeholders the forecast of future deals, business impact, communicate strategy and resolve prospect questions and issues during the deal process.
  • Inform product roadmap(s) based on partnership opportunities.
  • Support W+G OPEX Management through the tracking and analysis of expenditures.
  • Work with Leaf corporate Accounting and Financial partners on expenditures reclassification.
  • Scope and manage ad hoc special projects that involve multiple cross functional teams.
You'll be successful if you have an entrepreneurial mind-set, find passion in building things from the ground up, love to build structure in an unstructured environment, are self-motivated, are a creative problem solver and someone with a start-up mentality.

What You Have:
  • 6+ years in business development, partnerships experience, management consulting, business operations and/or a relevant operational role
  • 2+ years of internal stakeholder management experience with demonstrated excellence for driving new strategic initiatives
  • Prior experience in media/tech a plus
  • Experience in budget management and familiarity with accounting
  • Experience developing brand partnerships with a specific focus on distribution
  • Strong ability to work both cross-company and cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders including Editorial, Sales, Product, Marketing, Finance, and Legal
  • Expertise developing business cases, financial analysis and modeling, and familiarity of partnerships legal agreements
  • Creativity, resourcefulness and persistence to drive deals forward in an unstructured, fast-paced, multi-company environment
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize business development or partnership activities and follow through in a timely fashion
  • Analytical thinker with strong quantitative skills and impeccable attention to detail
  • Great commercial and strategic instincts - the ability to exercise good judgment in assessing opportunities, deal framing and negotiation of terms
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an intellectual curiosity and a good sense of humor.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and ability to identify challenges and course correct
