Job Summary

Under the direction of Supervisor, produce products as needed to meet customer demands with a minimum of rejection.

Duties and Responsibilities

Depending on location or assignment, may do one or more of the following:

  • Plan daily tasks as required.
  • As a working operation crew member, organize and direct labor, materials, and process to complete assigned daily operation schedules and requirements.
  • Prepare and complete daily paperwork associated with the operation system.
  • Reduce waste with effective control methods.
  • Train operation manpower.
  • Receive a housekeeping inspection report of good or better each month.
  • Operate non-silica and silica equipment in a safe and efficient manner with a special emphasis on eliminating dust.
  • Ensure quality of non-silica and silica products.
  • Effectively train and coach team members in all applicable SOP's and ensure that these SOP's are rigorously followed.
  • Mentor new employees.
  • Communicate job assignments to team members.
  • Recommend measures to improve inspection and production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of production.
  • Maintains quality records (e.g. batch sheets and prediction and test results). (QA only)
  • Assists with projects as needed.
  • Work other shift hours as required by Supervisor or Plant Manager.

Qualifications

  • Must be physically and mentally fit for duty.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous or current leadership position preferred.
  • Dependable and able to maintain the attendance required to perform the job.
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend and fully understand: SOPs, SDSs, labeling, safety and health regulations, and procedures within the job, this job group and the plant.
  • Ability to operate computerized equipment, read scales, recognize product problems, malfunctions and patterns out of specification.
  • Must have good leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Have a good knowledge of the mixing/batching/shipping department. Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production operations and machinery.
  • Ability to read and understand Engineering prints (Shapes only).
  • Ability to read, understand and use tape measure (Shapes only).
  • Should be familiar with metric (SI) units as well.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong reasoning/problem solving.
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide six place numbers. Must be able to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. (QA only)
  • Must be willing to participate in external training, which may include weekends and assigned out of the workplace study and reading.
Working Environment

  • The job is in a dusty and dirty environment.
  • Working in a hot and/or cold environment.
  • Shift varies from early morning start, evenings and weekends.
  • Required to wear respirator, safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety shoes.
Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 55 pounds constantly and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to qualify for and wear a respirator.
  • Work requires sitting, standing, and/or walking for long periods of time.
The job requires a to work lifting, pulling, pushing, turning, stacking and carrying 55 pounds of unstable bags, drums, cartons, and pails consistently and frequently, therefore the candidate must be fit for duty.

It is understood that if a job is offered, applicant must consent to taking a pre-employment drug screening test and/or physical examination as a condition of beginning employment. It may also be required that a drug screening test and/or physical examination be taken in the future as needed to determine fitness for duty.
