Description

JOB DESCRIPTION: Serves as a senior level air traffic control system specialist to assist the FAA in coordinating activities with air traffic requirements and operations personnel. This support will include, but not be limited to: coordinating support for required technical interchange meeting support and various program reviews; coordinating workgroup activities for En Route and Oceanic program offices; assisting in air traffic requirements development; system analysis; system/ subsystem specifications analysis to ensure air traffic operational concerns are addressed and assuring all technical requirements are included; presenting recommendations/solutions related to short and long-term program planning requirements; developing management plans; assisting in training requirements development; and classifying and summarizing data for the preparation and submission of reports on a recurring basis.  Position requires air traffic control technical and operational work experience as a domestic or oceanic air traffic controller in an En Route & Oceanic or Terminal operational environment.  Also required is acquisition and program management experience for FAA program offices or similar organizations. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required. The candidate must be proficient in the MS Office Suite and possess strong interpersonal skills. Supports various FAA programs to include: Surveillance and Broadcast Services (SBS), Cooperative Radar Systems and Terminal Flight Data Management (TFDM).  SCOPE: N/A LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT: N/A KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND ABILITY: Applies extensive technical expertise and has full knowledge of other related disciplines. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet objectives. Provides guidance to subordinates to achieve goals in accordance with established policies. Work is reviewed and measured based on meeting objectives and schedules. Establishes and recommends changes to policies, which affect subordinate organization(s). PROBLEM COMPLEXITY: Develops technical solutions to complex problems, which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity. FREEDOM TO ACT: Work is performed without appreciable direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long-term perspective for desired results. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. IMPACT: Guides the successful completion of major programs. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve major organizational objectives. LIASON: Represents organization as prime technical contact on contracts and projects. Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.

Qualifications

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A BA/BS degree in an air traffic related field is required. For all levels, experience is Air Traffic Control (ATC)  full performance level (FPL) experience or equivalent (e.g. military controller, contract tower, commercial dispatch operations, etc.).Candidate must have ATC experience in any of the following: Terminal, Enroute, Oceanic, Traffic Flow Management, or Flight Service Station. An additional five years experience may be substituted for the degree stated.

US Citizenship required with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance


Target salary range: $125,001 - $135,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
