About the Position:

This role is an on-campus, in-person position.

The Associate Director is responsible for implementing strategy for attracting and recruiting high quality candidates for the full-time Cox MBA programs (One-Year and Two-Year) and related dual-degree programs (MA/MBA, JD/MBA, & M.S. Engineering/MBA).

This position will represent SMU Cox domestically and internationally to recruit a diverse class of students. Partner with the Full-time Graduate Admission and Marketing teams to develop and deliver MBA program information and value propositions through print or on-line media and in-person interactions. Counsel prospective students on admissions process, direct application completion, and coordinate candidate evaluation process. Support yield and on-boarding processes for MBA admits by working with current students, alumni and the Office of Enrollment and Engagement.

Essential Functions:

  • Application Review: Evaluate admission applications for program fit and alignment with Cox School academic and enrollment goals. Record accurate notes and relevant data in the CRM system. Interview applicants for admission and record notes in a timely manner. Serve on the MBA admission committee. Support scholarship award process.
  • Plan and execute recruitment events which could include information sessions, webinars, yield events, and semi-annual preview days. Organize class visits, host presentations, coffee chats, and travel to off-campus events (possible globally) to recruit and engage candidates. Develop recruitment strategy and implement tactics towards meeting enrollment goals.
  • Communicate directly with prospective students, applicants, and admitted students about program information and the admission process. Assist candidates with finding their best program fit and provide insight on MBA career outcomes. Encourage admitted students to attend the Cox School. Record candidate interactions in the CRM.
  • Develop marketing content for presentations, website, and promotional materials. Partner with marketing team and Assistant Dean to refine target markets and student profiles. Support marketing team by updating program and admission information. Execute email marketing in the CRM to promote events, increase program interest and drive applications.
  • Maintain relationships with internal and external organizations that support Cox admission and our recruitment pipeline, including SMU departments supporting dual degree programs. Seek new opportunities for the Cox School to partner with educational organizations or vendors that support enrollment and/ or diversity goals.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Dean of the Full-time Graduate Admissions team providing assistance SMU Cox initiatives and events. Support ad-hoc projects or tasks and perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five years of work experience is required.

OR

Master's degree and a minimum of three years of work experience is required.

Experience in University admissions, advising, and/or marketing/sales strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and to effectively interact with students, alumni, staff, faculty, and prospective students. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills. A strong customer service orientation is essential.

Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning and time management skills.

Candidate must have a strong working knowledge of MS Office. Must also have a strong working knowledge of social media (facebook, instagram, twitter). Experience with and/or knowledge of CRM systems (e.g. Slate or Salesforce) is strongly preferred.
