Job Summary

The Golub Capital Social Impact Lab at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business Rustandy Center for Social Sector Innovation (the Lab) was launched in January, 2022, thanks to a gift from Golub Capital, and in partnership with the Chicago Urban League. The Lab will be dedicated to accelerating the competencies of leaders of nonprofit organizations serving communities of color and to support high-potential nonprofit organizations serving these communities.

The Assistant Director of the Golub Capital Lab has a unique opportunity to work with the Director to execute programming for the Lab and its signature program - IGNITE - from the ground up. In this role lead monthly program execution and follow up communication with participants and speakers. Serve as the point of contact for additional events and programming for the IGNITE participants. The Assistant director will support operations, marketing, research, strategy, and monthly program logistics for the Golub Capital Lab.

Responsibilities

  • Assumes responsibility for the daily operational activities of the Lab, which includes program execution, marketing, budget tracking, overseeing contracts, procurement, and reimbursements.
  • Oversees day-of logistics such as room set-up, AV/IT, registration, catering; and more.
  • Supports presentation development for monthly content sessions and other cohort-based events as they arise.
  • Researches, provides suggestions for, and secures potential speakers, facilitators, and lectures that align with the mission of the Lab.
  • Serves as program execution lead for the annual external lecture and internal convening of Golub Capital Lab Directors.
  • Aids in the application review process and selection communication
  • Manages post-event logistics survey distribution and follow up.
  • Manages Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
  • Leverages learnings from the Lab to support programs in the same overall space, i.e. Civic Scholars, Strategic Network for Operations & Finance, and other nonprofit professional development programs; in turn, strengthen Golub Capital Social Impact Lab through relationships with these programs.
  • Uses moderate/solid understanding and experience to administer the delivery of services to program participants and/or beneficiaries.
  • Has moderate/high levels of interactions with faculty, researchers and staff for committee work or information.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Technical Skills or Knowledge:
  • Proficiency with a variety of software platforms and applications.
  • Intermediate user of Microsoft Office suite, Google Sheets/Docs, Zoom.

  • Handle multiple detailed tasks/projects simultaneously and meet strict deadlines with frequent interruptions.
  • Thought partner who enjoys generating new ideas and executing them.

Working Conditions
  • This position is currently expected to work a minimum three days per week in the office.
